April, May & June were packed with events!

Over the last few months, Factiverse was involved in a variety of events. We started off attending the European Conference on Information Retrieval (ECIR) on the 14th April 2022 in Stavanger,Norway. Our CTO ,Vinay Setty presented automated fact checking at Factiverse Industry day, and shared the stage with speakers from Full Fact, Thomson Reuters, Spotify.

Later that month, on the 28th April 2022, our Product manager, Gaute Kokkvoll pitched at the Startup Extreme event and later presented our product Microfacts online together with MCB to WAN IFRA, World Association for News Publishers! 

On 19th May 2022, Maria Amelie and Gaute visited Seattle to pitch investors and meet with Microsoft and Madrona Ventures. Maria Amelie participated in a panel at the Nordic Innovation Summit together with energy pioneer Jarand Rystad, serial entrepreneur Pekka A. Viljakainen, and cyber whiz Marten Mickos who explored what innovations were needed to strengthen European resilience and safeguard democracy in an emerging Cold War II.

The President Guðni Jóhansson of Iceland was the opening keynote speaker and also sat down for a conversation on the future of world languages in the age of hyperscaled tech platforms and geopolitical contests with key executives from Amazon and Microsoft. The following month, on June 1st and 2nd, we participated in the Digital Media Europe 2022 in Oslo. Simultaneously, we presented at Nysnø Klimainvesteringer Day in Stavanger! Finance sector needs credible information to make better decisions for impact and a sustainable future.



On the same day, we were also visited by 25 Danish media leaders at the StartupLab as part of the Nordic Tour – we presented automated fact-checking for newsrooms to save time and build trust with readers there!


On 7th and 8th of June, we attended the MCB Hack and MCB Fact events at the Media City Bergen. The conferences were focused on the intersection between technology and journalism and aimed at fighting disinformation. Our Product manager Gaute presented automated fact checking for decision makers.


Later that day, our CEO Maria Amelie joined the panel discussing echo chambers how Russia is working to spread its narrative and what could be done to stop it along with Øystein Bogen, Johanne Kalsaas and Eskil Grendahl moderated by the famous journalist from the UK, Shirish Kulkarni.

The following days, 9th and 10th June, we attended the NORA annual convention, where we presented about our research at Factiverse and interacted with peers from the field.

Lately, we attended the Tekna Fake news event, there our CEO Maria Amelie presented on AI as an aid to distinguish false from facts.
